Sacred Heart Orphanage

THE HISTORY OF SACRED HEART ORPHANAGE

The Sacred Heart Orphanage has a history dating back to 2002 when Sr. Mary Gloria, the Provincial Superior and Sr. Mary Flora Myint purchased three plots of land along with a small House. The property was blessed in June 2003 by Rev. Fr. Raphael Kyaw San. Initially managed by Sr. Noelin Mary with seven students, Sr. Maria Do Deih later joined and cared for five students in 2004.

By 2005, the Orphans were transferred to the Sacred Heart Orphanage under the care of the Congregation. A well was dug with the assistance of the Little Way Association in February 2005. The foundation stone for a new building was laid in November 2007, and the construction was completed in April 2008. The new building was blessed in November 2009.

The aim of the Orphanage is to improve the lives of the Orphans and provide them with proper care. It is currently overseen by Sr. Magdalena Lian, Sr. Cecilia Dass, and Sr. Mary Gloria. Additionally, there is a sewing group consisting of Sr. Bibiana Baby, Sr. John Mary, and Sr. Jacinta Lum Yang. The service rendered by the Orphanage includes taking care of the Orphans, engaging in nursery work, and participating in prayer meetings.

The Sacred Heart Orphanage, situated at Bet Theingi & Nawarat Streets, Padaytha Myothit, Pyin Oo Lwin, Mandalay Division, is responsible for caring for around 20 Orphans in addition to their other commitments.
