St. Aloysius Convent – Chaung Oo

THE HISTORY OF ST. ALOYSIUS CONVENT, CHAUNG OO 

St. Aloysius Convent, established on 15 August 1984, at the Catholic Church premises, Bayin Gyi Quarter, Chaung Oo, Sagaing Division, has the mission focused on Parochial Responsibilities, Education, and Social Engagement. The primary objectives are to manage Parochial activities, provide education to Children from the villages, and undertake social initiatives. The Sisters daily teach catechism classes for children after the morning Eucharistic celebration. Evening activities include praying the Rosary with villagers at the Grotto and addressing the Members of the Legion of Mary. Additionally, they travel to Monywa Copper Mines across the river to teach catechism.

The convent’s purpose is to engage in apostolic work, manage a Dispensary, and run a Nursery. The leadership includes Sr. Xavier Mary the Superior, Sr. Immaculata Htun and Sr. Monica Cing.
