Social Action

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Mt.5:6

The Franciscan Sisters of St. Aloysius Gonzaga envision the spirit of our founder, Servant of God Michael Ansaldo, in the light of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, our Patron, in the foot prints of St. Francis of Assisi, with the help of Mother Mary and St. Joseph. Our long religious journey is deeply rooted in Christ Jesus, the sole Master and the one and only greatest teacher in the world. Through the apostolate of Social Action, Social Work, and Health Care, the Sisters impart the Motto of the Congregation, “Good News to the Poor” (LK: 4:18), in the lives of the afflicted, particularly the oppressed poor, the abandoned mothers, and the helpless Children.

Social Action:

Transforming society through the integral development of Women from an unjust social structure and enabling a person to free oneself of ignorance to obtain her basic needs, attain education, and receive medical care form our priority in mission. We work with solidarity for the downtrodden, oppressed Widows, and affected women’s total liberation and join hands with the people’s movements to uplift Women, especially the Dalits, and promote human rights, justice, and peace.

Social work:

We are compassionate towards Children, Women, and Orphans. In accordance with legal processes, the trained Sisters receive the abandoned and vulnerable infants who have lost their parents with motherly love and care for them to the best of their abilities. The crippled, poor, Orphans, Widows, Single Mothers, abandoned Women, and infants always get admitted. We make it possible for them to get the assistance available from the Government, set them up to follow their interests in either technical or higher education. Sisters care for them with maternal affection and without any partial attributes, allowing them to complete their education, achieve financial security, and get married. Our regular home visits support them with a renewed sense of family belonging and parental affection, which makes them more adaptable in social situations.

Health Care:

For holistic healthcare, the Sisters serve the sick as the Good Samaritan and meet Christ in them while serving them with more compassion. The Sisters who are trained through education generously collaborate with all those who serve in the medical field and continuously take part in Christ’s suffering, even on the death bed. With comforting words and spiritual energy, we serve the sick in deep prayers and bring spiritual well-being to the sick, prepare the dying (if Catholic) with sacramental love and help them frequently receive communion to face death with faith and courage.
