THE HISTORY OF MEHSANA, GUJARAT

The Gonzaga Nivas community was established on 4 October 2013, in Mehsana, Gujarat, with the invitation of the Archbishop Most Rev. Stanislaus Fernandez. It was the first community of the Congregation in North India. The community’s purpose was to serve in North India and bring people to Christ through their mission.

The present ministry of the community includes Social Work and Education, with the Sisters teaching in a private School in the Archdiocese. The community received support from different organizations and engaged in activities to empower women and help the poor during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Sisters also started a new mission in Pahadiya, Gujarat.

The pioneer community members were Sr. Nirmala, the Superior, Sr. Agnes Earnest Vimala, Sr. Susila, and Sr. Richard Suba. The report indicates that the community underwent renovation in 2020.
