THE HISTORY OF KOHDAR, MAJA, ALLAHABAD
St. Joseph’s Convent in Kohdar, Maja, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, was established on 10 April 2017. Their mission is to serve the oppressed poor, abandoned women, and helpless children, by spreading the Good News with the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Aloysius Gonzaga.
The community started with Sisters Leema Rose, Aloysia, Josheba, and Jenetmary, working in the Education ministry in the Diocese of Allahabad, under NTPC. They faced challenges but remained committed to providing value-based education. The community does not have a separate convent building but stays in an NTPC apartment.
The Sisters collaborate with the neighboring Parishes for Christmas and Easter celebrations.
