THE HISTORY OF DUMKA – JHARKHAND
The community in Dumka named “Gonzaga Convent” was established on 8 June 2016. The FSAG Sisters were invited by the Jesuit Fathers and started their journey from Puducherry to Dumka. The founding members included Sr. Jeyanthi, the Superior and Nurse, Sr. Sandhya, Teacher, Sr. Devanayagi, Teacher, and Sr. Aruna, Teacher. They began their Education ministry in St. Xavier’s institution.
The purpose of establishing the community was to provide education to the Tribal Girls and enlighten the marginalized. The present ministries of the community are Education and Pastoral Ministry, and they collaborate with the Presentation Sisters.
