THE HISTORY OF BHOPAL – MATHIYAPRADESH
The history of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Aloysius Gonzaga (FSAG) community in Bhopal began with the agreement between the Archdiocese of Bhopal and the Superior General of the Congregation to establish a community at Tarasewaniya for Education Apostolate and Pastoral Ministry.
The community started its ministry at St. Joseph International School for Excellence and worked under the jurisdiction of the Archbishop of Bhopal. Over the years, there were changes in community members due to transfers, and the Sisters actively engaged themselves in various activities, including Social Work.
Presently, the community members include Sr. Leela Kalai Selvi the Superior, Hostel in-charge, Medical Care, and Counselling, Sr. Joys Rani, and Sr. Punitha Teaching Staff in the School.
The purpose of the establishment of the community was to live the consecrated life, serve others, and engage in education, health care, and social welfare ministries.
