THE HISTORY OF AGRA – ALOYSIUS NIWAS
Aloysius Niwas the Community Agra, was founded as part of the FSAG Congregation’s mission in North India, following a decision made during the 28th General Chapter led by Rev. Sr. Mary Stella, the Superior General. Bishop Most Rev. Albert D’souza of Agra extended the official call for the Congregation’s establishment in the region.
In the initial stage, on 8 April 2014, the founding members, including the Former Superior General Mother L. C. Maria, Sr. Shalini Sailaja, and Sr. Pamila, arrived in Agra. They began their work at St. Peter’s School in Kiraoli under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Roy Dolphus. The School was inaugurated on 11 April 2014, with 225 Children and 4 Teaching Staff. The Sisters travelled daily from the Bishop House in Agra to Kiraoli during this period.
The Agra community places significant emphasis on Education and Social Activities. Aloysius Niwas Convent was established on 16, July 2014, in the presence of Most Rev. Dr. Albert D’souza. The Sisters actively participate in daily spiritual exercise, including Holy Eucharist celebrations, adoration, community prayers, and personal prayers.
The first community members were Rev. Mother L. C. Maria, Sr. Shalini, and Sr. Pamila. The present community members include Rev. Sr. Joans Mary, the Superior, Sr. Prameela, Sr. Nirmala, and Sr. Pushpa.
