THE HISTORY OF NANISINGLOTI CONVENT
The history of the community in Nanisingloti began when Sr. Nirmala, the Coordinator for the Northern Region, received a proposal to establish a community in Nanisingloti from several Priests, including Fr. M. G. R., Fr. Michael, and Fr. Peter SJ. After the positive feedback from these Priests, Sr. Nirmala presented the idea to the Superior General, Rev. Mother G. Rajamani, who approved it.
Sr. Nirmala and Sr. Angel visited Nanisingloti to assess its suitability, and it was deemed favorable for the mission. Fr. M. G. R. provided details about the mission and School, which would be managed by the Sisters, serving as the Principal and Hostel In-charge. The Superior General visited on 7 March, along with the Team Members and the Provincial Superiors, and approved the mission. Sisters Sr. Roja, Sr. Rebeca William, and Sr. Radhika were sent to initiate the new mission.
The mission is based in Nanisingloti in the Southern part of Gujarat and involves collaboration with the Society of Jesus, Gujarat Province. The Sisters provide educational services and are grateful for the support and blessings from the Superior General, Rev. Mother Rajamani, and Sr. Nirmala.
On 4 June 2023, the community was introduced to the new mission by Rev. Fr. M. G. R. and welcomed by Rev. Fr. Robert SJ, the Manager of St. Xavier’s School in Nanisingloti. The event included the presence of Sr. Nirmala, Sr. Roja Jyothi as the Superior of the Convent and the Principal of St. Xavier’s School, along with new community members Sr. Rebeca Williams and Sr. Radhika.
