THE HISTORY OF ST. LOUISE DE GONZAGUE, C.S.PURAM
The St. Louise De Gonzague Conventat C.S. Puram, under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Nellore, was established on 11 February 1989. The Convent played a significant role in serving the community through Education and Evangelization Ministries. The Sisters dedicated themselves towards uplifting the Underprivileged Children in the village, guided by the teachings of God and through the efforts of the Education and Evangelization Ministries. The local Parish, led by Rev. Fr. Dennis Desouza, actively supported the Sisters in their mission, fostering a positive atmosphere for the growth and the wellbeing of the Children.
The primary purposes of the establishment of the Convent were Education and Evangelization Ministries in the Diocese of Nellore which was under the leadership of Most Rev. Dr. P. C. Balaswamy. The first members of the community included Sr. Kanikaimary (the Superior), Sr. Savariyammal, and Sr. Anasthasiyamary.
The name of the Convent was later changed to “Assumption Convent.” At present, the Sisters engages in Education Ministry, Evangelization Ministry, and Social Work Ministry.
