THE HISTORY OF ST. JOSEPH’S RC GIRLS PRIMARY SCHOOL, MUGAIYUR

St. Joseph’s RC Girls Primary School in Mugaiyur has a long and illustrious history. It was established on 1st April 1910 with 50 students and received government recognition for classes 1 to 3. Over the years, the school underwent various upgrades and expansions, including the addition of classes 4 to 12, becoming a High School and Higher Secondary School.

In 1985, the school celebrated its successful completion of 75 years, and in 1992, it achieved a significant milestone by becoming a High School. Later, in 1994, it further upgraded to a Higher Secondary School.

In 1996, the management responsibility of the school was handed over to the congregation, which was a moment of joy and achievement for the sisters. The school continued to grow and develop, with various improvements made to its infrastructure, thanks to the contributions of devoted sisters, headmistresses, and teachers.

The school currently operates under the efficient leadership of Mrs. P. Mary Gracy Anuncia as the headmistress. Despite challenges, the school continues its mission of educating underprivileged girl children in the area, conducting reach-out programs even during the pandemic.
