THE HISTOY OF GUNADALA, PROVINCIALATE, ANDRA PRADESH

As per the historical records the service of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Aloysius Gonzaga in Andhra Pradesh commenced on 1 October 1953. The Ansaldo Province, with its Headquarters in Gunadala, Vijayawada, includes 15 communities in Andhra Pradesh and Chennai, serving across different Civil Districts and Dioceses. The province focuses on Missionary activities, involving 79 Sisters in various ministries.

Vision Statement:

The vision of Ansaldo Province is to proclaim the Gospel and translate the vision of Jesus and Values into reality. The mission includes Faith Formation, Education, Holistic Healthcare, Promotion of Justice and Human Rights, and showing compassion to the Marginalized.

Ministries:

Evangelization Ministry: The Sisters engage themselves in spending time with people and encouraging them to face life’s challenges with the teachings of Jesus.

Education Ministry: The Sisters contribute to education in Schools and Academic Institutions, imbuing their work with human values and Kingdom principles.

Social Work Ministry: The Sisters work to raise awareness on their rights and duties, helping people to utilize Government Programmes to improve themselves.

Health Ministry: Though not running hospitals, the Sisters offer consolation and counsel to the sick, playing a supportive role in their recovery.

Historical Perspectives:

The establishment of a convent in Rapur in 1978 under the leadership of Rev. Mother Barbera Mary the Superior General.

Formation of A.P Region took place during the years 1988-89, under Mother L.C. Maria, and the Convents were established to expand ministry, prompted by Most Rev. Thumma Joseph, the Bishop of Vijayawada.
