THE HISTORY OF ST. LOUIS CONVENT – YEARCAUD

St. Louis Convent in Yercaud was established on October 2, 1966, in the Salem Diocese, under the leadership of Rev. Mother. Dennis Mary. The purpose of establishing the community was evangelization and education. The current ministries of the community include evangelization, which involves preparations for Mass, conducting Anbiyam, catechism classes, marriage preparation classes, and guiding the Legion of Mary. Additionally, the community is engaged in education. The first community members were Rev. Sr. Marthal, Rev. Sr. Innaciyammal, Rev. Sr. Sabina, Rev. Sr. Ephiphania, and Rev. Sr. Arputha Mary. Over the years, the convent underwent renovations, and a new convent was inaugurated on April 7, 2003. The Golden Jubilee of the convent was celebrated on October 30, 2016, and a rainwater harvesting tank was built to commemorate the occasion. The community continues its dedication to evangelization and education.
