Sugantham – Puducherry

THE HISTORY OF SUGANTHAM (OLD AGE HOME)

“Sugantham” is a community that was established with the purpose of taking care of the aged sisters in the Congregation and offering prayers for those in need. The community was founded on April 20, 2005, under the leadership of Rev. Mother C. Maria Noel Rani, who served as the Superior General at the time of establishment.

The primary ministry of Sugantham is to provide care for elderly and sick sisters. This includes providing healthy food, fulfilling their medical needs, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring they receive loving and compassionate care. Nursing sisters are responsible for looking after them with utmost care.

Some important events in the community include the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Sr. Cipriyan Mary and Sr. Dosedea Mary.

The first community members of Sugantham were several elderly sisters who are currently residing there. They include Sr. Mariyanna (95 years old), Sr. Mathias Mary (85 years old), Sr. Sagaya Mary (92 years old), Sr. Francisca Mary (89 years old), Sr. Snabaga Mary (92 years old), Sr. Rosammal (85 years old), Sr. Namibikai Mary (83 years old), Sr. Martine Mary (87 years old), and Sr. Saraphine Mary (79 years old). The community underwent renovation in the year 2015.
