THE HISTORY OF ST. MICHAEL’S MAT. HR. SEC. SCHOOL, VALAPADY
St. Michael’s Mat. Hr. Sec. School was established on 23rd September 1977 in Valapady. It was initiated by Rev. Sr. G. Kulandai Therese, the principal of St. Michael’s Mat. School in Thumbal, with the permission of Rev. Mother Barbara Mary, the Superior General. Rev. Fr. Maria Rodesini also supported the school’s establishment. The school started with LKG and UKG classes in the Valapady Parish church compound.
Over the years, the school made progress and purchased 3.31 acres of land in 1980. The construction of the school building was completed in 1990, and recognition was obtained in 1992. The school expanded to include tenth and eleventh standard students.
The institution has achieved various infrastructure developments over the years, such as building blocks, laboratories, a stage, a convent for sisters, and more. It actively participates in various events, competitions, and celebrations, promoting the holistic development of students. The school also celebrates the feast of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, St. Michael, Independence Day, Teachers’ Day, Christmas, Pongal, Graduation Day, and other occasions.
