St. Louis Convent – Puliangudi

THE HISTORY OF ST. LOUIS CONVENT, PULIANGUDI

St. Louis Convent was established in Puliangudi on 24th November 1972, with the aim of evangelization and providing assistance to the parish and substations in their activities. The community members were actively involved in teaching in the school and catechism, as well as visiting and providing comfort to the elderly.

The first community members were Rev. Sr. Kaliastha Mary, Rev. Sr. Iranus, and Rev. Sr. Bosco. The original convent was situated in the village on property belonging to the diocese. However, the sisters purchased land 2 kilometers away from the village and constructed a new convent, which was completed in 2008. The old convent’s location was returned to the diocese after the new convent was established.
