St. Louis Convent – Palanganatham

THE HISTORY OF ST. LOUIS CONVENT IN PALANGANATHAM

St. Louis Convent in Palanganatham was established on 2nd June 1970 with the purpose of evangelization, education, and catechism. The establishment was permitted by Most Rev. Bishop Justin Draviam, and the Superior General at the time was Mother Dennis Mary.

The first community members were Sr. Lazar Mary, Sr. Virgin Mary, and Sr. Ernest Mary. The parish priest at the time of establishment was Rev. Fr. De Cruz.

The house was renovated on 24th October 2014.

At present, the sisters are involved in various ministries, including education (teaching in the school), catechism in the parish, running a tuition center, providing guidance to the parish youth, and engaging in social work. They also participate in parish ministries and strengthen faith through Basic Christian communities. The sisters provide legal aid to victims of the law through their own lawyers and offer basic healthcare support.

One of the historic events celebrated in the house was the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Sr. Adriana.
