St. Gnanapragasiyar Illam – Chinthamani

St. Gnanapragasiyar Illam in Chinthamani was established on 19/05/1979 in the Diocese of Tuticorin. The purpose of establishing the community was evangelization and education. The Superior General at the time of establishment was Rev. Sr. Barbara Mary. The parish priest at the time was Rev. Fr. Devarajan, and the bishop was Most Rev. Dr. Ambrose.

Currently, the community is involved in evangelization, education, and social work. An important event in the community’s history was the celebration of the feast of their congregation on 21st June 2015, where all the sisters from four communities joined together for the first time.

The first community members were Mother Santhana Santha, Sr. Susai Mary Jothi, Sr. Vimala, and Sr. Jacintha. The community underwent renovation on 05/11/2014.
