St. Aloysius Gonzaga Convent – Chimittahalli

THE HISTORY OF ST. ALOYSIUS GONZAGA CONVENT, CHIMITTAHALLI

St. Aloysius Gonzaga Convent in Chimitahalli was established on 06.06.1999 in the Diocese of Ooty. The purpose of establishing the community was evangelization, education for the poor, and social work. The Superior General at the time of establishment was Rev. Mother Noel Rani. The parish priest at the time was Rev. Fr. Maria Susai, and the bishop was Most Rev. Dr. Antony Anandarayar.

Currently, the community is actively involved in various ministries in three villages: Painapuram, Jora Hosur, and Chimitahalli. They provide evening tuition to students, run a sewing machine center, engage in evangelization and social work. They also participate in CRI meetings, write projects for the school, and prepare students and adults for sacraments while teaching catechism.

The first community members were Rev. Sr. Pushpa, Rev. Sr. Gnanam, and Rev. Sr. Lourdu Mariyal. The community celebrates the feast days of their society and St. Aloysius Gonzaga.
