St. Aloysius Convent – Kyar Inn

THE HISTORY OF ST. ALOYSIUS’ CONVENT IN KYAR-INN

St. Aloysius’ Convent in Kyar-Inn, within the Hakha Diocese, located at St. Peter’s Church Campus, Kyar-Inn, Kalay Township, Sagaing Division, had its beginnings in the year 2013 when the Bishop of Hakha and the Parish Priest of Kyar-Inn village reached out to the Sisters. Their aim was to enhance the spiritual and educational standards of the faithful in Kyar-Inn village. An official invitation from the Bishop of Hakha was received on 20 July 2015, through the Kyar-Inn Priest, following an invitation letter on 16 July, 2015. This led to the, confirming the opening of a new convent in Kyar-Inn, named St. Aloysius’ Convent, by Sr. Alice Mary the Provincial Superiors. The initiation of the convent took place on 16 July 2015, led by Sr. Juliana Aung and Sr. Cecilia Par. The Sisters were initially provided a temporary residence by the Parish Priest in the Church Campus, while the Parishioners arranged for a permanent land area of around 120′ x 100′ for the constructions of the Residence of the Sisters.

The primary aim of St. Aloysius’ Convent is to share the Gospel with the poor, engage in apostolic work, and conduct social activities. The Members of the Convent include Sr. Maria Do Deih the Superior, and Sr. Louisa Thee Ma. The Sisters are involved in various ministries such as Teaching Catechism, Parochial activities, Conducting Courses, leading Mothers and Fathers’ Associations, touring villages, visiting houses and the sick, and carrying out charitable work.
