Assisi Illam – Nagamangalam

THE HISTORY OF ASSISI ILLAM,  NAGAMANGALAM 

Assisi Illam in Nagamangalam was established on 2nd October 1994 with the purpose of providing a primary school for students who had no transportation to go to school. The Superior General at the time of establishment was Rev. Sr. Nambikai Mary. 

In the present ministry, the community actively participates in the parish ministry, particularly in liturgical activities. 

Some important events in the community include the celebration of Aspirants Day on 8th December 2020, where religious friends encouraged the students, and on 29th June 2021, three aspirants entered the postulancy in the presence of provincial and vice-provincial. On 8th July 2021, three more aspirants were accepted at Assisi Illam in the presence of the provincial and vice-provincial. 

The first community members were Rev. Sr. Epiphany, Rev. Sr. Gregory, and Rev. Sr. Santhus Mary.

On 25th February 2017, the house was renovated and celebrated its silver jubilee, golden jubilee, and house warming, presided by the provincial Rev. Sr. Thresa Gnanamani.
