St. Louis Convent – Perunkurichi

THE HISTORY OF ST. LOUIS CONVENT, PERUNKURICHI

St. Louis Convent in Perunkurichi was established in June 1944 with the purpose of education. The Superior General at the time of establishment was Rev. Sr. Kamil Mary.

The present ministries of the community include education and evangelization.

The first community members were Sr. Rose Mary, Sr. Immanuel Mary, and Sr. Francesca Mary.

As for renovations, the original sacristy served as the first house, and the present house was built in 1947. In 2016, with the help of the provincial, the house was renovated with the addition of tiles and painting. In 2017, the kitchen, refectory, and rooms were repaired, and an old house in front of the property was demolished and removed.
