St. Aloysius Convent in Kokkurani was established in August 1976 with the purpose of evangelization, education, catechism, and house visiting. It was initiated after an invitation from the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Stanislaus SJ, who saw potential for development in the parish and school. The Superior General at the time of establishment was Rev. Mother Denise Mary.

Important events in the community’s history include the elevation of the primary school to a middle school with the effort of Rev. Fr. Jaganathan, and the construction of a hostel for the children.

Several renovations and additions took place over the years, such as the blessing of the tabernacle in 1987, water line installation in 1990, construction of a compound wall and additional rooms in 1993, painting of houses in 1999, and the construction of a water tank.
