St. Louise Convent – Vettaikaranituppu

THE HISTORY HISTORY  OF ST. LOUISE CONVENT, VETTAIKARANITUPPU

The St. Louise Convent was established on 3rd March 1988 with two sisters, Rev. Sr. Theresammal and Sr. Josephine, in a thatched hut. The mission of the convent is to provide healthcare, tailoring, and education for 15 surrounding villages in Vettaikaraniruppu, Nagapattinam District. They started Our Lady of Good Health Dispensary in 1991 to provide medical and nursing services to the people. The dispensary was later closed down in 2006, and the building was used as a laboratory for school children. In 1991, Annai Vailankanni Nursery & Primary School was established, which was later recognized by the government and upgraded to a matriculation school in 2014.
